The story
Drive through Pennington, Hopewell, or Lambertville and you'll pass a dozen businesses that are genuinely excellent at what they do. A baker who's been perfecting one loaf for fifteen years. A shop owner who can tell you the provenance of everything on the shelf. A restaurant that quietly outclasses places three times its size.
Then you look them up online, and the website doesn't come close. A template from a decade ago. A social page doing all the heavy lifting. Hours that may or may not still be right. The work is extraordinary. The website is an apology.
Princeton Studio exists to close that gap. We build sites that finally match the work you do, fast enough to be affordable and personal enough to feel like yours. The long-term vision is bigger than a website. It's a small-business operating system, with ordering, payments, calendars, social, and reviews all in one connected place. But it starts with getting the front door right.
How we think
Three things we believe.
Bespoke, at the speed of automation
We use Claude and our own tooling to do the slow, repetitive parts of web design in minutes, so the human hours go where they matter: taste, judgment, and getting your particular business exactly right. Automated where it should be, handcrafted where it counts.
Local, on purpose
We work with businesses we can drive to. That's not a limitation, it's the whole point. When your designer knows the town, shops on the same street, and runs into your customers at the market, the work gets better.
Honest about being new
We're early. We'd rather say so than dress up a fake portfolio. What we lack in a wall of logos we make up for in attention. Early clients get the version of us that's most motivated to make something we're proud to point at.
The person behind it
Ryan Rayfield
I'm Ryan. I run Princeton Studio out of Pennington, with a second home base in Lambertville. I'm a builder by instinct, equal parts designer and engineer, and I started this studio because I kept seeing the same gap between how good local businesses are in person and how thin they look online.
I treat clients like neighbors, because around here they usually are. That means straight talk, fair prices, and work I'd be comfortable having my name attached to when we run into each other at the farmers market. If we work together, you get me, not a handoff to an account team you'll never meet.
